We are looking for a Research Associate in our cell/tissue culture team where you will have the unique opportunity to contribute to the work of cell-based pet products. In this role, you will team up to establish avian and mammalian cell line candidates for current and future tissue culture.

This position is based in our Berkeley office and will report directly to the Scientific Director.

Responsibilities

  • Culture, screen candidate cell lines for cell banking, assay development, and cell characterization.
  • Maintain and culture avian and/or mammalian cell culture, aseptic technique, and sterile technique in your laboratory work.
  • Plasmid DNA purification, DNA gel electrophoresis, and other related activities.
  • DNA/RNA isolation preferably from cells and tissues.
  • Research and implement new assays for cell characterization, using PCR, Western Blot, Immunofluorescence techniques, and other molecular biology tasks.
  • Scale-up cell culture products.
  • Accurately follow and respond to direction, especially the maintenance of documentation standards and SOP.
  • Inform your director of the improvement of Standard Operation Procedures and batch records.
  • Participate within the team for scientific discussions about the summary reports, and findings.
  • Data analysis, interpretation, and critical thinking.
  • General maintenance of laboratory equipment and supplies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Stem Cell Biology, or related field with 1-3 years of research experience in the industrial or academic lab settings.
  • Experience in animal or human cell engineering and immortalization
  • Experience in myocyte, adipocyte, and stem cell culture
  • Experience in gene transfection and translation
  • Eager to learn, team-oriented, resourceful, results-driven, and team-oriented, with thorough attention to detail
