We are looking for a Production Lead to join our Product team! You will be managing all production and related activities pertaining to our food, treats, and supplement product lines. This includes working closely with internal and external teams for production planning & execution, record keeping of production data, raw ingredient inventory management, and final product distribution. You will also be suppoarting the product team with qualifying new ingredients, qualifying new production sites, optimizing production processing parameters, and coordinating and executing pilot scale trials for new product development. The role will allow you to play a critical role in scaling up Wild Earth’s core R&D operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, maintain, and optimize production assignments for Wild Earth food, treats, and supplements.
  • Supervise all production activities i.e. ingredient ordering, production scheduling, quality checks, and inventory management
  • Serve as a point of contact between Co-manufacturers and the Wild Earth Team.
  • Analyze purchasing and/or shipping data to forecast production volumes.
  • Coordinate with co-manufacturers to monitor and manage raw ingredient and packaging inventory levels.
  • Ensure all finished products are produced in a timely manner and are in full compliance with key quality and food safety checkpoints. All Wild Earth products must meet the highest standards of product quality and food safety at all times.
  • Support the optimization of production processes, including optimization of extrusion parameters.
  • Request finished product and or raw material analytical tests.
  • Compile and maintain post production data and all product testing data.
  • Coordinate and lead supply, site, new product launch qualification trials.
  • Work with the logistics coordinator to distribute finished product shipments in a timely manner.
  • Assist the product team with cost-saving initiatives.
  • Monitor and support reporting of costs and inventory levels.
  • Open to share up-to-date raw material, product and process engineering expertise where relevant.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in pet food manufacturing including pet food processing, food production, extrusion, or related environment.
  • BA/BS degree is preferred​.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
  • Strong time and project management skills.
  • Ability to compile data and generate detailed reports
  • Ability to complete assignments in a thorough, accurate and timely manner
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Hands-on experience with extrusion processes.
  • Effective risk-management skills.
  • Ability to lead projects independently and achieve results with minimal oversight.
  • Ability to operate in a remote work environment.
  • Ability to adapt to change and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Availability for travel to production sites as needed; 30% travel may be required.
  • Openness to grow, learn new skills sets, and wear multiple hats.
